Beyond the financial loss, many holidaymakers said that the crimes they had experienced had wider impact. Half of the victims of holiday crime said it had disrupted their holiday, with one in five (18 per cent) feeling that a lot of time had been consumed sorting things out after the event. Sixteen per cent said that the theft caused them to worry for the rest of their holiday, while one in ten (seven per cent) felt their entire break had been ruined.
